Safety, setup, and flight tips

Follow the National Association of Rocketry safety guidelines for a safe, enjoyable experience. Choose a suitable launch site, keep a clear distance during liftoff, and operate the ignition with the safety key and a countdown. Have an adult supervise younger participants as recommended, and confirm all equipment is ready before launch.

Getting started

To fly, gather compatible Estes engines (e.g., 1/2A6-2, A8-3, A8-5, B-series, or C-series), a starter, recovery wadding, and glue. The controller requires four AA batteries (not included). Depending on engine choice and flight conditions, the Alpha III can reach roughly 1,100–1,150 feet in altitude, offering a satisfying first-flight experience with room to grow.
